چکیده

Ten normal volunteers and 38 patients with acute myocardial infarction were evaluated by biplane gated blood pool scanning. The mean left ventricular end-diastolic volume in those with infarction was 125 + 41 ml/m2 compared to 82 10 ml/m2 in the normals. The left ventricular end-systolic volume was 82 ± 35 ml/m2 compared to 35 4 ml/m2, and the left ventricular ejection fraction 36 + 8% compared to 56 ± 3% in the normals. Thirty-six of the 38 patients with infarction had an area of akinesis which ranged from 15 to 59% of the left ventricular wall. Patients with acute myocardial infarction were found to have a significant increase in left ventricular end-systolic volume and decrease in ejection fraction compared to normals. The end-diastolic volume was, however, increased only in those with an elevated left ventricular filling pressure

Dipyridamole stress and rest gated 99mTc-sestamibi myocardial perfusion SPECT: left ventricular function indices and myocardial perfusion findings

Introduction: We investigated the difference in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and end-systolic volume(ESV) measured by gated myocardial perfusion SPECT (GSPECT) in the post-dipyridamole stress and rest periods, and compared the results with the perfusion patterns found in the conventional non-gated tomograms. Methods: 297 consecutive patients were studie...

The role of oral dipyridamole stress gated SPECT in assessing the response of the left ventricle to stress: Re-evaluation of an old method

Introduction: We aimed to assess whether the vasodilator effect of oral dipyridamole on the left ventricular systolic function in patients with suspected CAD is different from that of intravenous (IV) dipyridamole using Tc-99m MIBI myocardial perfusion gated SPECT. Methods: Eighty-nine patients (17 M / 72 W; 61 ± 10 years) were enrolled in this study. The patients underwent a dipyridamole stre...

Right ventricular dysfunction detected by gated scintiphotography in patients with acute inferior myocardial infarction.

Twenty-seven patients with acute myocardial infarction not complicated by cardiogenic shock and ten normal volunteers were studied with gated cardiac blood pool scans. The ratio right vetricular area/left ventricular area (RVA/LVA) determined from the left anterior oblique end-diastolic scans was examined. The ratio was 1.11 +/- .06 in the normal volunteers. In patients with anterior infarction...

Myocardial damage of the entire ventricular region in a patient with acute myocardial infarction

Technetium-99m-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) has been used, in combination with thallium-201, to estimate the site and extent of myocardial infarcts. We report a case of acute myocardial infarction with severe coronary disease in which the distribution of 99mTc-PYP was extensive. A 78-year-old man presented with dyspnea, and a diagnosis of non-ST-segment elevation acute myocar...

Diastolic left ventricular functional indices: Comparison between gated myocardial perfusion SPECT and echocardiography

Introduction: Many patients have only diastolic dysfunction without any abnormality in systolic function. We compared cardiac diastolic parameters obtained by gated myocardial perfusion SPECT (Gated SPECT) with those evaluated by echocardiography. Methods: Forty-nine patients (aged 37-85 years, 19 males and 30 women) underwent Gated SPECT and echocardiogr...
